“Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.” (Isaiah 9 v 7) For Jesus is our eternal Saviour and Lord. Let us pray.

Reigning “Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever.” (v 7)

Jesus is our forever Saviour, “The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this,” (v 7) through the merciful forgiveness won at the †for us.

Let us pray with real rejoicing, delighting to look forward with expectant hope for Christmas. The Baby born to us will be one of the most mysterious and marvellous things we will ever experience. From the incarnation follows our salvation, conversion to holiness through forgiveness.

“Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples, give to the LORD glory and strength. Give to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” (Psalm 96 v 7, 8, 9)

Let us pray in appreciation and adoration, all to delight our Father, by offering our life turned over to Jesus, in whatever way the Holy Spirit asks of us, the one Spirit offering diversities of gifts.

Let us pray with thanksgiving for the Holy Spirit teaching us to dethrone ourselves as the centre of life, making Jesus King in us, amongst us, over us, as He is the Christ of the Holy Eucharist.

Let us pray in readiness for Christmas joy, the Lord Jesus born to us to make our faith acceptable to God, steadfast in loving kindness, able to forgive the hurts and move forwards, making good progress inspired by

Jesus, impacted upon by the Spirit.

Let us pray with all thanksgiving for our new life in Jesus, made possible for us according to our Father’s merciful forgiveness and the involvement of the Holy Spirit of life, of faith, of prayer.

Let us pray with rejoicing for experiencing such hope, peace and joy that the love of the Holy Trinity freely gifts to us, beginning in a beautiful and identifiable way at Christmas.

Let us praise the incontrovertible, indestructible but ever describable name of Christ Jesus, Child of God, Child of Mary, about to be born to make us happy and holy, for He is God’s Messenger offering us true love and merciful forgiveness whenever we go wrong. Amen.
